The accident happened on Monday while 45-year-old Flintoff was filming in icy conditions at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey.
“Freddie was injured in a crash on the Top Gear test track this morning – crew medics rushed to the scene immediately,” the BBC said in a statement.
“He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”
Flintoff’s injuries are “not life-threatening” Sunwhich stated that he was “driving normally on the track” and was not going at high speed.

“Filming has been suspended for now and everyone’s concern is that Freddy is recovering.”
Flintoff’s co-star Chris Harris, who presents the show with Paddy McGuinness, was also present at the test track.
In 2019, Flintoff narrowly escaped a 125 mph crash during the filming of another episode top Geardeclaring himself “all right” when he walked away from the accident.
He said at the time: “I do a lot to perform well top Gear Drag Race But, on occasion, I went a few lengths too far. When you see it on TV, it will look more ridiculous than dangerous.”
