As Pelé battles with cancer, his son, daughter share moving pics on Instagram spending Christmas by his side

The son and daughter of Brazilian soccer legend Pele have posted touching tributes and photos of their father on Instagram as they spend Christmas with him at the Albert Einstein Jewish Hospital in Sao Paulo.

“We are here to persevere in struggle and faith. One more night together,” wrote Kelly Nascimento on Friday.

In the photo shared by Kelly Nascimento, she is seen hugging her father as he lies on his hospital bed. Apart from this, Pele’s granddaughter Sophia can also be seen in the photo.

Moving on, Kelly also shared a picture taken with his brother, Brazilian footballer and coach Edinho. The latter arrived at the hospital on Christmas Eve.

Edinho held his father’s hand and wrote on his Instagram feed: “Father… my strength is yours.” Earlier in the week, Nascimento posted that the family would celebrate Christmas in the hospital next to Pele.

Pele was admitted on 29 November due to a respiratory infection. According to a statement from the hospital, he was admitted in September 2021 for “re-evaluation of chemotherapy treatment on diagnosed colon cancer”.

Updates from the hospital said Pele’s health had worsened and he would now need more care as his cancer progressed, reported CNN,

Earlier, Nascimento thanked well-wishers for their tributes and messages of support.
