From his early films to presenting love stories in a romantic way on screen, the journey he set for Hindi films, many filmmakers followed his footsteps. On 2 June 1988, Raj Kapoor said goodbye to this world.
Like Raj Kapoor Saheb, his three sons Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor also made their mark in the film industry. However, Rishi Kapoor was the most successful of the three. Elder brother Randhir Kapoor was also not very successful, nor did younger brother Rajiv Kapoor work in more films. Rajiv Kapoor got special recognition in the year 1985 from the film ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ directed by his father Raj Kapoor.
Everyone knows one thing about Rajiv Kapoor that he did not get along with father Raj Cooper and even he did not attend his funeral. He himself disclosed this thing related to his father in an interview. Rajiv Kapoor had told that he considered his father responsible for his unsuccessful career and was very angry with him.
When all the credit went to Mandakini
In the year 1983, Rajiv Kapoor’s first film was ‘Ek Jaan Hain Hum’, which was produced by his father. But, this film flopped badly. After this, Raj Kapoor made ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ for Rajiv, which proved to be a super hit. But Rajiv Kapoor’s luck did not favor him here as well and the entire credit for the film being a hit went to actress Mandakini. After this, Rajiv asked father Raj Kapoor to make a film for him with a strong character. But his father refused to make a film with him and since then bitterness arose between the two.
