International Esports Federation ropes in Big Bang Media as partner for Asia Open Esports Championship


NEW DELHI: The International Esports Federation (IESF) has partnered with Big Bang Media Ventures, owned by Bollywood producer Madhu Mantena and banker and entrepreneur Ravneet Gill, to launch the inaugural Asia Open Esports Championship (Asia Open) from January 30 to March 15, 2023. The championship will see participation from around 40 countries across Asia and the Middle East, providing a platform for gamers to compete and build communities internationally.

To be held online in its inaugural edition, the Asia Open will feature four esports titles including the eFootball game, PES. There will be three skill-based categories; Amateur, Mid-core and Professional.

Big Bang Media Venture said it will also launch several large-format tournaments to develop the eSports market in close partnership with gamers, creators, designers and coders.

The number of Indian gamers is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12% and is expected to reach 700 million in FY25 as compared to 507 million in 2021, Dentsu’s gaming report titled India 2022 – For Gamers Said in the report. ,
