Kolkata International Film Festival: On Thursday, veteran stars from across the country attended the Kolkata International Film Festival. The name of Amitabh Bachchan is also included in this list. He spoke about civil liberties and freedom of expression from the stage of the film festival.

Questions being raised on freedom of expression

Amitabh Bachchan said that even today the concept of freedom of expression is questioned when it comes to cinema. Amitabh Bachchan says from the stage of Kolkata Film Festival, ‘I am sure that the fellow sitting on the stage will agree that even now questions are being raised on civil liberties and freedom of expression’.

Shahrukh Khan gave his reaction on the protest against the film Pathan. He said that some people are spreading negativity on social media. Cinema is a means of changing the society.

Negativity increases the use of media media

Further, he said, social media is usually driven by a certain narrow mindset, which lowers the level of people’s nature. I had read somewhere that negativity increases the consumption of social media. Such experiments reinforce a belief, which further makes social media divisive and subversive.

Shah Rukh Khan also said that ‘the world has become normal’. We are all happy. I am the happiest and I have no objection at all in telling this that no matter what the world does, I, you people and all the positive people are alive.
