Recent Match Report – Bangladesh A vs India A 2nd unofficial Test 2022/23

Bangladesh A 252 and 49 for 2 (Shadman 22*, Saurabh 1-10) Traill India A 562 on 9 December (Eshwaran 157, Jayanth 83, Musfiq 3-129) by 261 runs

Bangladesh A needed another rescue act on the final day after India A took a 261-run lead in the second unofficial Test in Sylhet. The hosts were 49 for two at the end of the third day’s play after India A declared their first innings at 562 for nine.

Bangladesh A had started well though, Musfiq Hasan dismissed India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran for 157 in the sixth over of the day. Easwaran hit 14 fours and two sixes in his innings that lasted more than seven hours. Jayant Yadav and Saurabh Kumar put on 86 runs for the seventh wicket to take the Indians closer to 500. Saurabh was particularly aggressive, hitting seven fours and two sixes in his 39-ball 55. Jayant and number 10 Navdeep Saini also scored half-centuries to weaken the Bangladesh A attack.

Saini stayed for almost an hour and 36 minutes to bring up his maiden first-class half-century. He shared an unbroken 68-run partnership with Mukesh Kumar for the tenth wicket, after which Easwaran called him back.

Left-arm spinner Murad and rookie pacer Musfiq took three wickets each, while Suman Khan took two wickets.

Bangladesh A lost their first match hero Zakir Hasan in the fifth over when Umesh Yadav bowled him for 12 runs. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for 10, ending the two-match series on just 44 runs.

Shadman and Mominul Haque, however, saw Bangladesh through at stumps without any further damage. Mominul needs some runs ahead of the first Test against India next week, for which the final day is crucial.
