Recent Match Report – Bangladesh A vs India A 2nd unofficial Test 2022/23

Bangladesh A lost by 252 and 187 (Shadman 93, Saurabh 6-74, Umesh 2-34, Saini 2-54) India A 562/9 December (Abhimanyu 157, Jayant 83, Bharat 77, Saurabh 55, Pujara 52, Saini 50*, Musfiq 3-129, Murad 3-145, Suman 2-119) by an innings and 123 runs

Saurabh Kumar dismissed Bangladesh A to hand India A an innings and 123-run victory in the second and final four-day match at Sylhet. The Indians completed the series win – the first game being drawn – after bowling Bangladesh A out for 187 on the last afternoon, taking eight wickets in more than one session to get the job done.
India A left nothing to chance as left-arm spinner Saurabh, who had removed Mahmudul Hasan Joy on the third evening, struck twice before on the final day. Mominul Haque was caught behind for a six, and Saurabh then dismissed Shahadat Hossain, who scored 29 in a 54-run fourth-wicket partnership with Shadman Islam.

Saurabh ran through the lower-middle order to take his second five-wicket haul of the series. He ended the two-match series with 15 wickets at 14.46.

Bangladesh A got by Shadman as much as they fought alone. He scored an unbeaten 93 with the help of 18 fours. He batted for nine minutes less than six hours. The only support he got was from Shahadat, and then from Zaker Ali, who scored 22 runs in a 35-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Shahadat and Jekar had scored half-centuries in the first innings.

It hasn’t been a productive time for Bangladesh A batsmen, especially those in the Test reckoning – Mominul and Mahmudul scored 42 and 44 respectively in four innings.

The bright spot was Zakir Hasan, who scored 231 runs in the series, including 173 in the second innings of the first game, which earned him a place in the Test team for the first time.
