Tickets out for India’s first-ever Formula E race in Hyderabad, to be held on 11 Feb

Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana, on Wednesday booked the first ticket for the inaugural ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race to be held in Hyderabad on February 11. Private firm Ace Next Gen is the official promoter of the Formula E race in India. The firm is working in partnership with Formula E and the Telangana government.

Hyderabad will host the fourth round of 17 races for the 9th season of the championship, which will be held between January and July 2023.

Addressing the event, Arvind Kumar said that the event will establish Hyderabad as a global destination for e-mobility. A total of 11 teams with 22 cars will be racing in the championship, including some of the world’s top racing companies, he added.

“The world’s fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car – Gen3” is coming to Hyderabad on February 11, the organizers said in a press release.

The partnership between Ace Next Gen Formula E and the Government of Telangana is four years long and the championship will be held in India till 2026.

“We are thrilled to bring the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to India for the first time and introduce our new Gen3 car to a new audience,” Alberto Longo, Formula E co-founder and Chief Championship Officer, said in a release. ,

“It has been a must-see destination for us for some time now, and hence we cannot wait to get racing in Hyderabad on 11 February,” said Alberto.

The last international racing event hosted by India was in 2013 when the country hosted the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Telangana Minister for IT, Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao said, “It is an honor for us to welcome racing enthusiasts from across the globe to the city for the Formula E Championship.”
